Parliament House

The Parliament House, truly represents Malaysia’s present democratic system. Built in 1962, the building stands on elevated ground near the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens. The complex includes; a 3-storey main building which houses the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) and the Dewan Negara (the Senate) and an adjacent 17-storey tower where an open-sided terrace is its main attraction. The Parliament House is distinctive because of the stained, heat and light-absorbing glass windows.

Sri Mahamariaman Temple

Kuala Lumpur prides herself in having many beautiful temples and one of them is the Sri Mahamariaman Temple, that has been attracting tourists from all over the world. Built in 1873, it is the oldest temple in Kuala Lumpur and the richest in the country. The Sri Mahamariamman Temple is a fantastic temple known for its well-detailed decorative design. The gate tower is adorned with complex sculptures of Hindu gods and its floors and walls patterned with exquisite tiles brought from Italy and Spain. The temple’s most impressive feature is the 23m-high pyramid-shaped gopuram (gate tower), adorned with sculptures depicting Hindu gods.

Sultan Abdul Samad Building

Facing Dataran Merdeka is Sultan Abdul Samad Building, a Moorish inspired building with a 40m high clock tower topped by a copper dome. Completed in 1897, the building was designed to house several government departments during that time. Today, Sultan Abdul Samad Building accommodates the Judicial Department and The Textile Museum.

Orchid Garden

Kuala Lumpur’s Taman Orkid (Orchid Garden) is located within the Lake Garden vicinity. The Orchid Garden is one hectare of land housing more than 3,000 varieties of orchids, including 800 species of exotic Malaysian orchids. The serene garden showcases waterfall, water fountains, and lotus pond that makes it more even a relaxing place to see. Orchid lovers should not miss coming to this place which is open daily from 9am to 6pm.Come weekends, cut flowers and plants are for sale.

Bird Park

The Bird Park, situated at the scenic Lake Gardens, where it is the largest free-flight bird park in South-East Asia. The Kuala Lumpur Bird Park established in 1991 is about 20.9 acres of land housing about 3,000 birds from approximately 200 species from all over the world. There are lot of things to see and enjoy at the park such as a Waterfall Aviary, Flamingo pond, World of Parrots, Pelicans, Hornbill Park, Amphitheatre and Children’s playground.

Cameron Highlands

Nature lovers will surely enjoy visiting Cameron Highlands. The largest and leading hill resort in Malaysia, Cameron Highlands is situated at an altitude of 1,829 meters. Thousands of tourists come se and experience what the natural beauty of the place offers. Aside from the cool climate and its famous teas plantation, various species of wild flowers, Cameron Highlands has much to offer including beautiful waterfalls, various species of wild flowers and plants, vegetable gardens, rose gardens, honey bee farms, strawberry farms and butterfly farm.

Muzium Negara

Muzium Negara, one of Malaysia’s tourist attractions, is a three storied palatial structure of old Malay architecture design. It is situated atop a hill at Jalan Damansara in Kuala Lumpur. A must-visit for tourists, the museum showcases Malaysia’s rich cultural and historical heritage. The museum which opened on 1963 houses four main galleries featuring displays and exhibits related to the country’s natural history and culture and traditions. The displays range from a replicas of Perak Man, traditional weapons, currencies, ceramics, musical instruments, art and handicraft, old locomotives, vintage cars, burial jars, coffin with a decorated lid, and local flora and fauna.

Batu Caves

Batu Caves is a limestone hill, which is situated thirteen kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur. A favorite among international tourists, it is a sacred place for the Hindu’s in Malaysia. Discovered in 1892, Batu Caves comprise three main caves and a number of smaller ones. Cathedral Cave which is the biggest, has a 100 m-high ceiling, and houses features elaborate Hindu shrines. To get there, visitors have to climb 272 concrete steps. Outside Batu Caves stands a 42.7 meter statue of Murugan, a Hindu deity. There are other caves worth exploring such as the Ramayana Cave and the 2 km long Dark Cave. As you enter the Batu Caves, watch out for the long tailed-macaque monkeys.

Bako National Park

Bako National park is Sarawak’s oldest national park, covering an area of 2,727 hectares of a rocky sand stone peninsula at the tip of the Muara Tebas. It is a very nice place to spend quiet moments in Nature’s lap. Though small as compared to other parks, Bako National Park contains hundreds of species of birds and animals plus every kind of vegetation found in Borneo. Some of these vegetations include Padang or Grasslands Vegetation, Mangrove Forest, Peat Swamp Forest, Cliff vegetation, Kerangas or heath Forest, and beach vegetations. The animals found at the park include monitor lizards, long tail macaques, Sambar deer, mouse deer, silvered leaf monkey, the long-nosed Proboscis monkeys, the Oriental Small-Clawed Otter and the Hairy-Nosed Otter and wild boars.

Petronas Towers

Your Malaysian tour will not be complete if you will miss seeing Petronas Twin Towers. Holding the World’s record for the tallest building up to 2004, this 452 high skyscraper situated in Kuala Lumpur, symbolizes Malaysia’s growth which has taken place in last decades. The towers are connected to one another through a sky bridge on 41st and 42nd floors. Once up the towers, visitors will have a glimpse of the you wonderful scenery of Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysian tourism industry is on the rise each year, so local tourism authorities are still seeking other places to include in their growing list of tourist destinations.
